Children's folk-ballet Kalinka is one of the best dance ensembles in Saint-Petersburg. Its history begins in 1985, when several young tutors decided to attract boys and girls to a new professional dance group.
In the following 17 years the folk ballet got dozens of prizes and diplomas at Russian and international contests.
The creative director of the ensemble is Ludmila Meet, who has been working with the young dancers of "Kalinka" for 13 years
Kalinka is 380 boys and girls from 6 to 16. They attend choreography classes and rehearsals 4 times a week. The best ones continue their choreographic career and become dancers of Mariinsky Ballet and other famous theatres and ensembles.

During the last 10 years the ensemble visited many Russian cities and foreign countries. The children got roars of applause from the audiences of Moscow, RIga, Odessa, Warsaw, Krakow, Koln, Berlin, San-Francisco and Los-Angelos.
